Athens Gay Beach Guide

Limanakia è la spiaggia gay più popolare nei pressi di Atene e una delle più conosciute in Grecia. Si trova su un tratto di costa rocciosa tra i ricchi sobborghi di Vouliagmeni e Varkiza, a circa 45 minuti a sud del centro città, lungo il Golfo Saronico.

La spiaggia è un insieme di piccole calette piuttosto che una distesa di sabbia uniforme. La sezione conosciuta come Limanakia B è la zona gay e nudista, incastonata tra rocce calcaree bianche con acque limpide e profonde, ideali per nuotare. Non c'è sabbia né strutture ricettive, quindi i visitatori si sdraiano sulle rocce piatte e entrano in acqua dal bordo. Portatevi delle scarpe da mare se avete i piedi sensibili.

La clientela è composta principalmente da uomini gay, con un picco di affluenza durante i mesi estivi e un'atmosfera particolarmente vivace nel pomeriggio. Un piccolo bar sulla spiaggia nelle vicinanze offre bevande e snack di base, ma i servizi sono limitati, quindi è consigliabile arrivare preparati.

Come arrivare: In auto, percorrete Viale Poseidonos oltre il Lago Vouliagmeni; la spiaggia si trova a circa 1,8 km più avanti, con parcheggio sulla destra. Senza auto, prendete la linea M2 della metropolitana fino a Elliniko, poi l'autobus 122, scendete alla fermata "B Limanakia" e seguite la strada fino al mare. Prendere un Uber dal centro di Atene è semplice e ne vale la pena, soprattutto con il caldo.

Pikpa is a gay and naturist beach on the Athens Riviera at Voula, around 18km south of the city center. That makes it noticeably closer and easier to reach than Limanakia, roughly a 30 to 40 minute trip by car or tram, which is its main draw for anyone short on time.

The beach is a series of rocky coves with clear, deep water, sitting just along from the organized paid section of Voula Beach. There is no sand to speak of and little development, so visitors lay out on the rocks and swim in from the edge. If you want sunbeds, showers, and a beach bar, the serviced part of Voula is right next door.

The crowd is predominantly gay men, and Pikpa is the more discreet, low-key option of the two main Athens gay beaches. It is quieter and more secluded than Limanakia, which remains the busier daytime social spot.

Getting there: Take the tram to Voula, then it is around a 30-minute walk to the beach. By car or Uber it is about 18km from central Athens along the coast road. Access can be awkward, as much of the headland is fenced off by private beaches, so allow time to find the path down.
