Situata nel nord del Texas, Amarillo è una piccola città nella zona del Texas Panhandle. Città più grandi come Albuquerque e Dallas sono raggiungibili in 5 ore di auto. Amarillo è la porta d'accesso al vasto Palo Duro Canyon State Park, fiancheggiato da sentieri. È noto anche per il Cadillac Ranch, un'installazione di auto decorate con graffiti, in parte sepolte in un campo, lungo la famosa Route 66. Il quartiere storico è il luogo ideale per ristoranti e negozi di antiquariato.
