Il Boiler Room Sauna

I'm disgusted by the experience myself and my friend just had here. I'm a 22yo gay man, and he's a 21yo gay trans man. I agreed to go to the sauna with him for his first time as he was a little scared of being mistreated on account of being transgender. We paid, entered, got changed. My friend elected to wear a swimsuit to cover his body, as he's quite shy and dysphoric about it. This was completely fine for every patron we saw and spoke to. He was treated with respect and dignity, exactly the same as I was. Around 10 minutes into our stay, a staff member came over to inform us that clothes were not permitted due to hygiene rules. This was difficult for my friend, but he agreed to undress since everyone was being respectful and he was willing to do so, despite feeling uncomfortable. Around 15 minutes after that, the staff member returns to inform us that the boss wasn't happy. We were told that the sauna was for people with male genitalia ONLY, and that we had to leave. This is absolutely unacceptable. We are in one of the most progressive areas in England, it took an awful lot of courage for my friend to enter a male space, and to be treated like this is appalling. I implore you, even if you're unaffected by trans issues, to not give your business to this sauna.

Regrettably today is the last time I will visit. Having handed over my £14, I entered and was about to change when I realised I hadn't paid to park. I tried but guess what: No signal. I wanted to go out to use the phone to park. Imagine my reaction to: "We don't allow re-entry!" To my repeated: But I'm only parking the car, I was still met with "We don't allow re-entry!" So, faced with losing £14 or a £60 parking fine, my sauna was over!...and I hadn't even used the facilities...OK, I'd walked on their hallowed (now uncarpeted|) floor. I returned my key and departed. No effort to even contact management to vary this ridiculous situation or give a refund! I left with no fun nor refund. The worst of customer service imaginable. I hadn't thought about it but reading the most recent post, I also agree that the service is deteriorating. First, the carpets have been ripped up. Now food no longer available. What next? Oh yes, New staff with an appalling attitude. Well it's their business and as such I conclude that customers are regarded solely as cash cows. By contrast, I am delighted that I'm not regarded that way by my customers in my business dealings!

You can tell this place has been patched up over many years and is really dated and filthy. I took a shower when I got home just in case. I regretted not having taken my flip flops. The place looked very dirty and grimy and it was very dark. This place needs gutting from floor to ceiling. Asking £15 for those facilities is shameful. No condoms and lubes in sight. The sauna itself was okay despite the dirt on the floor.

.....used to be clean, well organised and friendly. Now the new staff seem to think that being dressed in shorts or underpants excuses the place being unclean, badly run and and unwelcoming. No condoms or lube, dirty floors, steam room either not switched on or scalding hot....pity

This used to be a great little sauna. It felt really clean and well maintained. That is no longer the case and it feels rather grubby and a bit run down. Absolutely no condoms or lube available on the top floor. No toilet paper in the toilet. Seriously in need of some TLC.

Been back after a short time away ,Still the same good value and fun most guys like bb fun so if your ok with that enjoy .

There's been a change of staff lately and some troubles apparently. But I attended 2 days ago and have no complaints. Everything was clean and working and a lot of hit guys attended the cumunion party. I was more than satisfied. Hope they can sort out the staff/management problems cos this is still my fave sauna in Brighton.

I have been coming here since way back when it was the original Denmark. Grubby then but had a charm and quirkiness about it. Then the big refurb where it was a little soulless. It evolved into a great clean interesting place to be. Well today I went to my shock horror this place has been completely ruined and neglected. Things moved walls changed with bad diy nails sticking out of walls filthy showers and a cordoned off hot tub. This place has turned into a rats nest. I left after a quick look and told the guy on the desk that it was disgusting and filthy and he said where.... we’ll that sums it up. The standards are so low they can’t even see it for themselves. Avoid this old gem you will waste 14 quid and most likely get sick from the breeding bacteria. I was so sad to see such a great old Brighton institution become somewhere that I wouldn’t send the homeless to wash..

Great Facilities and very friendly staff. The staff are always very helpful and they offer really good facilities. The gay guys there are always ready to help of course and more help if needed... But seriously it's a very nice place especially if you like and love fun.

This place could be good if it would not always stink of fish and chips.

I recently traveled the UK and Ireland visiting saunas all along the way. This one was gets a solid thumbs up. Nothing flashy, but everything works, the staff were great, the clientele was great, the lockers were a little bit small. The showers were great, the jacuzzi could have been a bit hotter. The only thing that was really missing was someone cleaning up better. There were definitely some messes I encountered that had been waiting to be cleaned up. Overall a great experience.

The place is nice, staff is friendly. The only thing I don't like is that most of the people pretend to do bb without any attention to the health.

Had a great time and became totally refuelled and filled.

Wonderful place I go most Tuesdays for naked day - brilliant.

Really liked it here there was lots of action. Will go again mmmm.

Hove Sauna, piece of trash. Small, stain, very old clients and expensive.

Went again on Saturday lots of nice guys to join in the fun. Got bb a few times but ok with that.

Another visit and plenty of fun with lots of guys, going again soon.

Got there early for a full fun day, met so many tops I left with a big smile on my face. A really great place to go to have fun.

Every time I visit there plenty of well-endowed tops. Only problem is that rooms are quite hot and if you have more than 2-3 people in gets really hot. Be careful people bareback without permission.

I am going to try to get here more often as the fun you have makes you want for more, the guys are so friendly and up for it.

Had to return again after last time and spent the whole day having fun wow what a place I am still smiling. Think I will ask if they do a year pass.

This place is great and friendly and I had the best time of my life, plenty of nice guys that join in the fun. Will be going again soon.

The boileroom Sheffield has the occasional dark day, sounds good. Why not do the same upstairs at Hove, sure it would be popular and a pull. Ed

Very clean and friendly very nice naked days. Tony is very polite and friendly.

Visited today for the first time. Easy to park at Hove station, friendly reception, immediately met a guy who showed me around and made me feel welcome. A few other guys around. Used the swing, always fancied that and now know why!! Plenty of fun to be had, good snacks at reasonable prices. Just what i needed Definitely going back

Friendly, clean, great atmosphere, lots of fun, good value food. All brilliant. except for the showers, which are waasaaaaay in need of replacing. The showers, guys, replace the showers!!! Brilliant place. Did you get the bit about the showers?

My partner and I visited this sauna as we wanted a relaxing afternoon in a hot tub and we left within 15 minutes as the facilities and the hotub were far below expectations. The carpets (yes I said carpets) smelt of damp dog and there was an old extractor fan above the hotub that made a loud whining noise that made it impossible to relax. Having seen the facilities combined with the high pitched fan, we decided to leave and ask for a refund. After explaining our thoughts as politely as we could to the chap on reception he said he would have to call his boss which he duly did. After a brief conversation between said chap and "the boss" we were told we would be getting a refund and there was nothing wrong with the fan. We in turn explained that we would be expecting our money back and were also very insulted as over hearing "the boss" ask our ages and that he couldn't even be bothered to speak to us directly on the phone was incredibly bad business practice. This sauna is awful for a number reasons but our main criticism was the way in which the owner treated our complaint. We did eventually get a refund and £28 says we should have done without having to fight for it, that is just good business ethics. Their website talks of leaving refreshed yet we left just feeling stressed. I would also suggest that instead of spending their obviously much needed funds on a re- brand, they actually spend some money to make for a sauna that matches their critique accurately. We went to Brighton Sauna after that and the extra pound they charged gave us the relaxation we were looking for. The Boiler rooms "Boss" requested that we didn't return which although is going to be the easiest request ever to comply with, was the cherry on the dreadful cake of customer relations we experienced.

Great sauna, great staff, especially Tony! My only gripe, the new sling should be in the middle of the room, then anyone on the sling could be attended to from both sides. Wow what a thrill, would also like to see a window between the sling room, it's a turn on to see what large portions are seeing offered next door! Ed

Visited this place a few times and recently it has had so many major improvements to its appearance, including its new name and website, looks great, and all the time the customer service has been amazing. I've had massages here with Steve and the other masseurs too, they all offer a friendly professional relaxing experience. Highly recommend a visit here, especially on the naked days, they are really busy and lots of fun! Oh and if you are under 25 its only a fiver entry, that brings in some cute ones.

You just can't find a friendlier, warmer sauna anywhere on the south coast of England, to be honest. Best staff around. Not sure who the other reviewer came across, but I go several times every week, and never a problem. Most saunas, the staff don't even talk to you. New menu, with really good food on offer too, and about the cleanest place around. Recently refurbished, with air con, and lots of fun going on.

We go along on naked days, held every Tuesday, and have always found the place to be clean, friendly and fun. Certainly worth a trip!

I've never seen a place with so many young guys before. Doesn't anyone check ages anymore.

Crowd friendly, but staff very judgmental, very odd considering its a sauna in Brighton.
