Gay Italy

Italy is world-renowned for its history, art, cuisine, wine, and stunning landscapes. In recent years, the country has also become an increasingly popular destination for LGBTQ travelers. After the legalization of same-sex civil unions in 2016, Italy continues to make progress towards full equality and inclusion.

Big cities like Rome, Florence, and Milan have vibrant gay scenes with clubs, bars, saunas and LGBTQ+ cultural events. Coastal towns like Taormina in Sicily also attract gay travelers drawn to the welcoming communities.

While public displays of affection remain less common in rural areas, travel throughout Italy is generally regarded as safe for the LGBTQ community to fully experience la dolce vita.
